About Udaipur

Udaipur, often called the "City of Lakes," is a breathtaking destination where history, nature, and romance come together seamlessly. Known equally as a city of palaces, Udaipur is defined by its shimmering lakes — like Lake Pichola and Fateh Sagar — set against a backdrop of grand royal residences that seem to rise from the water's edge. Framed by the Aravalli Hills, the city offers a timeless and dramatic landscape. Founded in 1559 by the Mewar dynasty, Udaipur remains deeply connected to its royal heritage. From majestic palace complexes to elegant lakeside views, every corner of the city reflects a sense of regal beauty and tranquility.

Fun Facts

  • 🏔️ The Aravalli Hills surrounding Udaipur are over a billion years old — among the oldest mountain ranges in the world.
  • 👑 The Mewar royal family still lives in part of the City Palace, making it one of the few places in India where royalty continues to reside in a historic palace complex.
  • 🎬 Parts of a James Bond film were filmed in Udaipur, and the movie remains popular with local guides who love to reference it.
  • 💕 Varsha's favorite Indian movie was filmed right here, and the actors got married in a hotel just like ours! Samarth fell asleep the first time they watched it together… sooo.
